Description of the attraction
Manganari is a beach on the southern coast of the Greek island of Ios, about 23 km south of the administrative center of Ios, Chora. The beach is located in a picturesque bay well protected from strong winds and is rightfully considered one of the best and most beautiful beaches on the island, and is also a multiple holder of the honorary "blue flag".
Manganari Beach is soft golden sand and crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea, sun loungers and sun umbrellas, beach bars and taverns with traditional Greek cuisine, as well as a variety of water sports (scuba diving, windsurfing, etc.) for outdoor enthusiasts … In the vicinity of the beach there is a fairly good selection of cozy mini-hotels and comfortable apartments, but due to the limited number of places, it is better to take care of booking in advance. It is worth noting that since Manganari Beach is very large and is located at a considerable distance from Chora, there are never too many holidaymakers here, and you can easily find your own secluded corner. Convenient entry into the water and relative shallow water makes this place ideal for families with small children.
You can get to Manganari beach by public transport (in summer there is a regular bus service between Manganari and Chora, as well as with Milopatos beach), by boat, using a taxi or renting a car (as well as a scooter or motorcycle).
In 1988, on the Manganari beach, some scenes were filmed for the famous film of the cult French director Luc Besson - "The Blue Abyss".
