Description of the attraction

The Bahrain World Trade Center is an architectural ensemble 240 meters high, consisting of two towers with aerial bridges and wind turbines.

To create a building of such an unusual design, the designers were inspired by the traditional Arab "wind towers". The project was carried out by Atkins, a company specializing in the construction of high-tech facilities and the sale of construction equipment. In the case of the Bahrain WTC, the very shape of the building was used to capture sea wind from the bay and provide a renewable energy source for the project. The high-rise complex consists of fifty floors, built in the center of Manama, near the Financial Bay of Bahrain and the Pearl Towers, Abrai Al-Lulu and the National Bank of the kingdom are also nearby.

The towers connect three air bridges with wind generators installed on them, the total power of which is 675 kW. The turbines have a diameter of about 100 meters each and are turned to the north, towards the Persian Gulf, from where the wind most often blows. The tunnel between the towers works like a wind tunnel, accelerating wind currents and increasing the generation of electrical energy. The Bahrain WTC receives from 11 to 15 percent of the electricity it consumes from the turbines.

Of the 50 floors of the building, 34 are occupied by offices, the rest of the area is occupied by fitness centers, restaurants, there is parking for 1,700 cars. The Bahrain World Trade Center is equipped with high-speed elevators, of which four are located on the outside, and glass cabins offer panoramic views of the bay, the city and the running turbines.
