Description of the attraction
The National Music and Drama Theater of the Komi Republic has existed since 1992. All twenty years of its existence the theater has staged about sixty performances. The theatrical troupe includes a folklore and ethnographic ensemble called "Parma", which sings Komi folk songs and plays traditional Komi instruments. All performances of this theater are staged only in the Komi language, there is simultaneous translation for Russian viewers.
The repertoire of the theater is represented by organically combined dramatic works and vocal and instrumental heritage of Komi folklore. The combination of these two directions gives a completely new and original theatrical performance, reflecting the deep perception of the Komi people. The performances are created on the basis of materials from folklore, the Komi folk epic, rituals, songs and represent a variety of genres: musical epic poem, folk drama, mythological tale, musical comedy, legend, modern drama, children's fairy tale.
The Music and Drama Theater is a visiting card of both the Komi Republic and Russia in the global theater space. The theater has presented its most successful performances in Russia and at international festivals - in Estonia, Finland, Bulgaria, Poland, Norway, Hungary.
The National Music and Drama Theater is the pride of the region. The theater was created with the aim of preserving the original national culture and national language. Today, the theater puts on performances based on the works of local Komi and foreign authors, it uses the best examples of classical Komi drama in all genres: folk drama ("Dorys - Kutys En mam" ("Heavenly Intercessor")), musical and epic poem ("Kerch yu közyain”(“The Master of the Kerch River”)), mythological tale (“Yola mountains”(“Sound of an echo”)), modern drama (“Kyk bat”(“The Tale of the Fathers”)), comedy (“Makar Vaska - siktsa zones "(" Mischief-maker ")), legends were (" No-oh, bia bordayas! ", musical comedy, drama, fantasy thriller, melodrama.
The theater's repertoire also includes works for children: theatrical concerts, fairy tales. In addition, the creative team of the theater has developed special educational programs for children that introduce children to the musical instrumental culture of the Komi, oral creativity. From the first days of the theater's life, its artistic director is the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, People's Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Gorchakova Svetlana Genievna.
Everybody knows the Music and Drama Theater and is always waiting for it even in the most remote corners of the Komi Republic. For a very short period of its existence, the theater won the love and recognition of the public in the Komi Republic, as well as abroad and abroad. The troupe has repeatedly traveled to the Bomba International Festivals in Finland (Nurmes). In 1997, the theater group successfully showed itself at the 20th folklore festival of the peoples of the North in Poland, and in 1998 - at a festival in Bulgaria (Burgas). In 1999, the collective won the sympathy of the audience at the folklore festival in Tartu, in 2000 - in Helsinki, in 2001 - in Imatra, in 2005 - in Rovaniemi, in 2002 - in Moscow, in 2002, 2004, 2008 - in the Republic of Mari El etc.
The National Music and Drama Theater of the Komi Republic is a laureate of many theater festivals and competitions. In 2005, the performance "Silver of Flax" was recognized as the best performance at the International Festival "Russian Island" in Moscow, in Petrozavodsk in the same year it became a laureate of the International Festival of the Peoples of the Barents Euro-Arctic Region.

Great game! Theater artists play great! It is a pity that there is only one performance in Russian. The administration is tactful and friendly. I would like to come again!
