Description of the attraction
Mount Fitzer is located in the Swiss Alps of the canton of Bern and is part of the so-called Berne Ridge, which has long been considered a serious obstacle to the movement of travelers from north to south. Fitzer's height reaches 2458 meters above sea level.
Fitzer is located south of Adelboden and west of the well-known Engstligen Falls. Immediately after the waterfall, the mountain turns into the Engstligen plateau, which was listed in 1996 in the list of cultural landscapes of national importance in Switzerland. You can get to the plateau using the cable car leading from the valley.
Despite the more than average height of Fitzer, it is not so easy to climb it, only experienced climbers with significant climbing experience can take this courageous step. The most popular among them is the route from the Truneg pass through the northeastern ridge. Some people prefer a combined ascent, first to the summit of the nearby Mount Emmerspitz and the subsequent trek to Fitzer along the ridge connecting the mountains. Fitzer's northern slope is a rather steep cliff and climbing the mountain from this side is possible only with the availability of special equipment and solid climbing experience.
Well, if someone just wants to admire Fitzer, he can walk along the observation path that runs through the Engstligen plateau. The peculiarity of this road is that it is equipped so conveniently that it is perfect for the movement of wheelchairs, as well as for families with small children.
