Drivers should be aware that parking rules in Portugal vary from city to city and may also change depending on the day of the week and time of day.

Features of parking in Portugal
Tourists should know: the car can be parked at least 6 meters before and after the tram stop, 25 meters in front of the bus stop and 5 meters after it. You can stop the car 5 m before the intersection.
On a one-way road, you need to park in the direction of travel, and if you see a sign in the form of a crossed out red stripe on a blue or white background, it means that parking is prohibited (No Parking).
To park in a residential area from 08:00 to 18:00, you must obtain a special permit (Cartao de Residente), which is issued by companies or people living there. Violation will result in a 30-150 euro fine.
