Jerusalem is a holy city for the followers of three religions. Jerusalem annually receives hundreds of thousands of pilgrims, ordinary tourists, businessmen who come to the Holy Land on business. In this regard, the question "How to get to Jerusalem?" worries many.

There are several exotic ways to travel to Israel. This state does not have a railway connection with neighboring countries, but you can enter it by buses from Jordan and Egypt. It is unlikely that any of the travelers will use such a route. The easiest way to get to Israel is by plane.

There is no international airport in Jerusalem, so the path to the Israeli shrines will consist of several stages:

  • tourists fly to Tel Aviv by plane;
  • from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem can be reached by bus, shuttle bus and train.

By plane to Israel

There are direct flights between Moscow and Tel Aviv from the following airports: Domodedovo; Sheremetyevo. El Al planes fly from Domodedovo directly to Tel Aviv, and Aeroflot planes fly from Sheremetyevo. Passengers will spend about 4 hours in the air. Up to five flights depart to Tel Aviv per day. If for some reason travelers are not satisfied with direct flights, then Israel can be reached with one change: for example, in Amman, Istanbul, Sofia, Belgrade.

From Domodedovo, Ural Airlines' planes fly on Thursdays and Sundays to Uvda international airport, located near Eilat in the south of the country. Usually, those tourists who want to visit Jerusalem do not fly to Eilat, since these two cities are at a decent distance from each other. How to get to Jerusalem from Eilat? Buses travel to the city of three religions, but the journey will take about six hours. Therefore, it is still better to fly to Tel Aviv.

How to get to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv

Most tourists arriving in Tel Aviv plan to travel further - to Jerusalem. It is easy to get to this city by public transport if you do not want to do it on Shabbat (from mid-Friday to Saturday evening). Otherwise, you will have to wait until the end of Shabbat by staying at the hotel. Most tourists from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem travel by bus. Buses line 405 leave from the main bus station. Another regular bus number 480 connects the stop "Arlazorov Station" in Tel Aviv and the central bus station in Jerusalem. Passengers spend about an hour on the way. Tickets can be purchased directly from the driver. Buses leave every 20 minutes, so there are no queues and rush for these flights.

From Jerusalem Bus Station to the Old City, where the main attractions are located, can be reached by tram, which stops right in front of the central entrance of the bus station. Tram tickets are sold at ticket machines at the stop. The ticket must be validated on the tram, otherwise it will be invalid. The tram stop for tourists wishing to explore Jerusalem is called City Hull. It is just a stone's throw from the Jaffa Gate, where most of the excursions begin.

How to get to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv using other public transport? You can use the minibus, which also departs from the Tel Aviv bus station. The only drawback of minibuses is the lack of a timetable with the departure of cars. Drivers stand at the bus stop until the passenger compartment is full.

Trains also travel to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv. The railway between the two cities is laid in a very picturesque area, so people who first come to Israel should really enjoy traveling to Jerusalem by train, regardless of the length of the trip. By the way, the train passes by the Jerusalem Zoo, so you can visit it if you wish.
