Prague and Berlin! Two European cities of amazing beauty with a rich history and a huge number of cultural and architectural attractions. It is not surprising that the answer to the question of how to get from Prague to Berlin is asked daily by search engines and tour operators by hundreds of tourists from all over the world.
The two capitals are separated by only 350 kilometers and you can overcome them quite quickly and using any type of land transport. The most impatient ones manage to fly from the capital of the Czech Republic to the capital of Germany by plane, although in this case it is unlikely to be faster, because by the time of the flight, you should add a couple of hours for security checks and registration.
By train
Direct trains from the Czech capital to the German capital depart daily from the main Prague railway station located at 8 Wilsonova Street.
The journey from Prague to Berlin takes about five hours. The ticket price is 75 and 60 euros in class 1 and 2 carriages, respectively.
The first train departs from the Prague railway station at 4 a.m. and passengers wishing to rest in a comfortable sleeping place are given the opportunity to pay a couple of tens of euros for the provided comfort.
Every day about seven trains follow the route and passengers can choose a convenient time for the departure and arrival of the train.
How to get from Prague to Berlin by bus
Eurolines buses are the cheapest and most popular way to cross the Czech border and end up in Germany. About two dozen flights depart from Prague to Berlin every day. The route passes through Dresden, and passengers spend about five hours on the way. The cost of tickets depends on the time of departure and the day of the week. The cheapest travel documents for an adult will cost 15 euros.
All Eurolines passengers can count on comfort and service. Buses are equipped with:
- Individually controlled air conditioning system.
- Dry closets.
- Seat belts on each seat.
- Electrical outlets for recharging electronic equipment and telephones.
Business class tickets will be able to use free Wi-Fi and receive a hot lunch or breakfast.
Choosing wings
The short distance between Prague and Berlin does not stop those who like to climb into the sky, and travelers book flights between these two cities quite often.
Direct flights between the capitals of the Czech Republic and Germany are operated by the carriers of these countries - Air Berlin and Czech Airlines. Airlines from the Netherlands, France and Belgium fly with transfers.
The cheapest flight will be Prague - Berlin on board Air Berlin. The ticket price will not exceed 90 euros, and you will have to spend about an hour in the sky.

Prague Airport is named after Vaclav Havel and is located 17 km from the city. It is convenient to get from the center to the airport by metro (line A). At the terminal station Nádraží Veleslavín, you will have to change to buses N119 or N100. The final stops of these routes are located at Prague airport. The total travel time from the center to the airport will be about half an hour.
Tegel Airport in the capital of Germany is located just 8 km from the center. You can get to the city by TXL express buses. They are painted bright yellow and run several times an hour. The journey will take about 25 minutes, and tickets for 3 euros can be purchased from the driver. TXL buses run to the Brandenburg Gate. Ordinary buses NN 128, 109 and X9 leave from the airport to the center of Berlin.
The car is not a luxury
Choosing a car as a means of transportation, remember that in Europe there are very strict traffic rules, and violation of them threatens the driver with compulsory payment of substantial fines.
You can cross the border both in your personal and in a rented car. Rental offices operate both in the Czech Republic and in Germany. Representative offices of most of them are open right at the airports, and therefore tourists can get behind the wheel right at the passenger terminal, getting off the plane.
Useful information for autotourists:
- The average price of one liter of gasoline in Prague and Berlin is 1.12 and 1.40 euros, respectively.
- A private car driver will need a special permit to travel on toll roads. The pass is called a vignette and is purchased electronically at gas stations or special sites.
- Talking on the phone while operating the machine is allowed only with a hand-free device.
It is also mandatory to use seat belts for the front and rear passengers and a child seat for transporting babies.
The shortest road route from Prague to Berlin is 350 km. The journey takes about four hours and passes through the cities of Usti nad Labem, Dresden and Lubbenau.
