Who is the first - Koh Samui or Phuket?
Phuket Island is one of the largest in Thailand, its prosperity was associated with the extraction of tin and rubber. This continued until the middle of the twentieth century, when smart people paid attention to the beautiful nature, favorable climate, and the gorgeous coast of the Andaman Sea. All this allowed this island to become one of the mainstays of tourism in Thailand, and after it other regions began to develop.
The tourist boom in the last century has covered Koh Samui, which ranks third in size. Until the twentieth century, he was in a certain isolation, this is what helped to preserve nature in its pristine beauty. Today it ranks second in popularity among tourists, after Phuket, but at the same time it remains cleaner, more cozy and comfortable.
Phuket and Koh Samui resorts
The main tourist island of Thailand can fall in love at first sight or turn away forever, it all depends on whether the tourist can find a suitable resort for himself. There are many places for recreation in Phuket, and they differ from each other fundamentally:

True, pleasure cannot be attributed to inexpensive ones, a tourist should be ready to pay a tidy sum both for equipment and for preparing for a dive.
Koh Samui cannot boast of the same, diving on this island is not so popular. Fans of underwater landscapes are offered to go to the island of Ko Tao, famous for its diving sites and marine beauty. The island offers more modest entertainment, mainly related to beach recreation, the beaches here are sandy, very picturesque, many of them are located in cozy coves or between rocks. The best is the Chaweng beach, where you can find both luxurious 5 * hotels and traditional bungalows that allow you to be closer to nature.
Many beaches offer various water sports, aquabikes and windsurfing, others turn into huge dance floors at night, while others are good for leisurely walks under the moon and gazing at the stars.
Excursions and entertainment
The main attractions of Samui are created by nature, which is why ecological excursions are so popular, for example, to the rocks with funny names "Grandmother" and "Grandfather", the two-level Namtok waterfall. Exotic travels - to crocodile or snake farms, to the butterfly park; transvestite shows are of particular interest among some tourists.
Phuket is ready to offer a wide variety of excursion programs, fulfilling any wishes of guests. Many temples, religious complexes, the most famous statue of the Big Buddha - for fans of history and culture."Thai Village" is a tribute to national traditions. Ecological walks will reveal the most beautiful corners of the island, you can travel to other islands and the sea, go to the jungle, watch exclusive shows with animals or transvestites.
There is room for fans of Buddhism - there are many ancient and modern temples on the island that amaze with their Buddha statues, interior interiors and interesting legends.
Comparing the two Thai islands is extremely difficult because, on the one hand, they are similar, located in the same region and offer different (but similar) types of recreation to their guests. On the other hand, Koh Samui and Phuket differ from each other, so tourists first need to think carefully about which one to choose for a vacation.
Samui is chosen by those who:

- does not know what diving is and is not going to explore the depths of the sea.
Phuket Island is more suitable for those tourists who:
