The Republic of Slovenia is often and deservedly called the pearl of Europe. This is not surprising, because on its territory there are a huge number of natural attractions, each of which is worthy of the brush of a famous painter. Among others, the waterfalls of Slovenia stand out. There are more than two hundred of them in a small area.

On Lake Bohinj

The Savica waterfall in Slovenia is one of the most visited natural sites. It is located at an altitude of 630 meters above sea level, it is a stream of the Savica River, falling from a height of 78 meters from the Komarche cliff northwest of Lake Bohinj. The shape of the waterfall, consisting of two streams in the lower part, resembles the letter "A".

Useful information for tourists:

  • From the village of Ukants by car, follow the signs for about 4 km.
  • Parking for cars is open on the territory of the mountain shelter.

  • If you want to go on foot, start from the Zlatorog Hotel. The road will be marked with signs and the travel time will be about an hour.
  • The "duty" for servicing the territory of the most beautiful waterfall in Slovenia is about 3 euros per person.

  • The telephone by which you can ask questions to the employees of the national park is 04 574 60 10.

Trails around Boka

The highest waterfall in Slovenia powerfully throws down its stream from a height of 106 meters in the Kanin mountain range on the border of Slovenia and Italy. Large water flows out of the cave and falls down in many jets, the total width of which reaches 18 meters. The height of the fall of Boka is comparable to a 35-storey building and the spectacle for everyone who could get here is quite impressive:

  • The first variant of the ascent to the waterfall is to the left of the bridge on the Bovek-Zaga road. Drive from the parking lot within 10 minutes to reach the panoramic point. Further, if you wish, you can climb higher to see the source of the waterfall. In this case, the journey will take about 2 hours.
  • The beginning of the waterfall is a cave at an altitude of 725 meters above sea level. The trail starts to the right of the bridge in the parking lot and there will not be enough comfortable shoes for its passage. Tourists will also need good physical fitness.

The best time to visit Boca Falls is April and May, when the river is at its fullest after the spring flood.

Water extravaganza in the Logar Valley

The second highest fall in Slovenia is the Rinka waterfall in the central part of the country in the Logarska Dolina nature reserve. The Savinya River falls here from 105 meters and the longest cascade is 90 meters high. An equipped pedestrian path leads to the observation deck.

There are several dozen waterfalls in the Logar Valley, but Rinka is the largest and most picturesque among them.
