When they mean special qualities or value, they say that the spool is small, but expensive. This proverb is also about Bosnia and Herzegovina, a small Balkan republic, about which the vast majority of tourists know little. Its only access to the sea is located in the area of the resort town of Neum, and the length of the coastline is just over 20 km. But on the other hand, this sea is the Adriatic, and therefore a beach vacation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is as beautiful as that of its neighbors on the peninsula. Picturesque landscapes and unique Balkan hospitality make a vacation here a real dream for any fan of the sun, sea and live communication with interesting people.

Russian tourists also benefit greatly in terms of entry formalities. They do not need a visa to visit the country for up to 30 days, and charters in the summer season allow you to get to the Bosnian resort without problems and special material costs.

Where to go to sunbathe?

The town of Neum is the only Bosnian seaside resort and is the one offered by tour operators as a beach destination. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is the main tourist center and it is here that buses with travelers traveling from Croatia to Montenegro slow down: among other things, goods in Neum are much cheaper than in neighboring Dubrovnik and neither taxes nor duties are applied to them.

The hotels in the resort do not have too high star status and the most expensive of them is the sober Neum.

Most vacationers prefer to rent guest houses, dachas or apartments from local residents. Housing prices in Neum are very pleasant, and therefore both tight-fisted Germans and thrifty Swedes willingly rest here.

Weather features of a beach holiday in Bosnia and Herzegovina

  • The country's temperate continental climate ensures warm summer weather. The swimming season in Neum starts early enough and in mid-May the most seasoned tourists are swimming in full swing in the waves of the Adriatic.
  • By July, the air warms up to + 28 ° С, and the water - up to + 25 ° С. The resort remains popular until the end of October, because the sea keeps warm until late autumn.
  • Big waves and strong winds are not observed on the beaches of Neum, because the surrounding mountains reliably protect the area.

For the same reason, a beach holiday in Bosnia and Herzegovina is great for families with children. The weather favors little travelers. But the beaches at the resort are pebbly, and the pebbles are quite large, and therefore it is best for children to wear special sandals.

The bluest sea

Reviews and photos of those who have been to the Adriatic confirm the opinion that this sea is the bluest on the planet. The views of Neum are always a picturesque landscape, against the background of which both lazy rest and active sports seem to be the very desired scenario of a long-awaited vacation. It's just that everyone has their own scenario.

For active guests, the resort offers simple beach activities. You can dive into the waves of the Adriatic, it is easy to soar above them on a parachute flying after the boat, and any local travel agency will help arrange a romantic boat trip.

Party-goers and party-goers will be helped not to get bored by nightclubs. Despite the small size of Neum, there are a lot of similar establishments in it.

Neum will not leave architecture lovers indifferent either. The city has preserved ancient monuments of the Ottoman era, and its red tiled roofs against the background of the emerald greenery of parks and gardens look luxurious in the photos of tourists who have been on vacation.
