If you ask any person what elements should decorate the coat of arms of Naberezhnye Chelny, this largest city of Tatarstan, then almost nine out of ten will give a description of the modern heraldic symbol.
The main official symbol was adopted in March 2005, passed the approval procedures in the highest heraldic structures of the Russian Federation, and takes its place under No. 1819 in the State Heraldic Register. In addition, under the lucky number "13" he is included in the similar heraldic register of Tatarstan.
Description of the coat of arms
The authors of the draft of the coat of arms decided not to complicate the task, therefore the coat of arms of Naberezhnye Chelny consists of a shield, for which, according to a long-standing Russian tradition, the French form was chosen. There are no other elements that can be found on the coats of arms of cities, in particular, tower crowns, wreaths of leaves in a frame, order ribbons and other attributes.
On the one hand, the main heraldic symbol looks very laconic and restrained. On the other hand, each element of the coat of arms is important, as well as the color scheme. The shield contains the following elements: a golden canoe with oars and sail; silver waves.
The shuttle deserves special attention, since it has a complex color scheme. To draw the elements of the boat, the color of the precious metal (gold) was used, scarlet and green to depict the canvas of the sail. In addition, there is a gold edging and three gold bezants in the upper field of the sail.
The canoe is drawn with great care, seven oars are visible, a rostra adorning the bow of the boat. This element is made in the form of the head of a girl with long hair and a scarf draped over it. The sail is crossed by scarlet and green.
Element symbology
Cheln - there is a direct reference to the name of the city, this technique is called classic in heraldry. In addition, the canoe symbolizes the past, the floating facilities that were used in these places in the old days. On the other hand, the same symbol directs to the future, since the canoe is shown in motion. In a figurative sense, it is movement, overcoming the elements, achieving goals.
A full sail indicates the readiness of the townspeople to move forward, improve, develop. The oars act as symbolic instruments of labor, that is, the inhabitants of the city do not expect favors from the world, they contribute to the development and movement.
