Visit the flea markets of Antwerp (such places are called “brokante”) - get the opportunity to look at the goods on display there, admire incredible things and become their owners (they are relatively inexpensive).
Antique market
This market sells interesting antiques (merchants set different prices for them, and they are higher than at traditional flea markets).
Flea market in Vrijdagmarkt square
This flea market auction takes place on Fridays from 9 am to 1 pm. The uniqueness of this place is explained by the fact that here sellers announce lots and start trading (you can get, for example, antique furniture). In addition, visitors here are advised to take a closer look at the boxes displayed by the trees - there are a variety of things, digging in which, you can choose something useful for yourself completely free of charge.
Flea market on Lijnwaadmarkt
You can visit this flea market on any Saturday in the summer: they sell cheap trinkets, rare porcelain sets, and valuable antiques.
Other retail outlets
Travelers are advised not to overlook the weekend market in Theaterplein, which sells vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, clothing, bicycles and antiques.
Those who are not used to spending large sums on purchases should visit Give-Awayshop (address: Ploegstraat, 25; open on weekdays from 2 pm to 6 pm): here you can put your own things and take any other people's things (this process does not imply monetary transactions).
Shopping in Antwerp
The main shopping street in Antwerp is Meir - it is famous for its expensive boutiques (lovers of high-quality and expensive shopping will appreciate it). And from this street in different directions are smaller shopping streets, where you can buy interesting Belgian brands at more attractive prices.
It is believed that you cannot return from Antwerp without diamonds, so it is worth walking through the city's jewelry boutiques (pay attention to the “diamond” street - Kloosterstraat). For example, even in the building of the railway station, you can find a gallery with 30 jewelry stores. But in any case, tourists are advised to look into the huge shop-gallery "Diamondland" (its area is 1000 square meters; it is entirely dedicated to "girls' best friends") - it is usually visited during an organized group excursion.
As a treat from the city, you should definitely take away Belgian chocolate and famous Belgian waffles (look for them in Del Rey, Chateau Blanc and Burie stores).
