Murom is the birthplace of Ilya Muromets, an epic hero (canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church). Those who go on pilgrimage tours to Murom will be able to discover in the village of Karacharovo (part of the city) part of his relics and a spring with healing water (heals diseases, strengthens the spirit, “fills” with vitality), named in his honor.
Numerous travelers tend to go on a pilgrimage to the holy places of Murom. Their goal is to bow before the Murom saints (relics) and to pray for the acquisition of family well-being from the Monks Peter and Fevronia (patrons of marriage).
Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian
Pilgrims include a visit to this church in their tour of Murom: it was built on the site of the tent of Ivan the Terrible, installed in 1552 (he was heading to Kazan). If you wish, you can see an exact miniature copy of the Church of Cosmas and Damian in the Murom Museum.
Nicholas Embankment Church
The Church of St. Nicholas was not accidentally built on the banks of the Oka, because Nicholas the Wonderworker is the patron saint of sailors and travelers (he could "control" the water element, for example, "pacify" storms and strong waves through his prayers).
Visitors to the church are given the opportunity to bow before the relics of Juliania Lazarevskaya. It should be noted that before the revolution there was an icon of the 14th century (the image of Nicholas the Wonderworker), which is now the property of the Murom Museum. Important: do not forget to collect water in the Nikolsky spring (it has healing properties), where, according to legend, Nicholas the Wonderworker appeared.
Spaso-Preobrazhensky monastery
The monastery complex includes a chapel-ossuary (the remains of Murom citizens and monks are buried here), a fraternal building and several temples. The main shrines of the monastery: the icon of St. Luke (consecrated in Simferopol on his relics); the image of Nicholas the Wonderworker (consecrated in Bari on his relics); icon "Quick to Hearken". It is worth noting that numerous people flock here on Orthodox holidays to pray.
Holy Trinity Monastery
This monastery is a repository of the relics of Peter and Fevronia, the staff of Abbess Hripsimia, as well as the Vilna reliquary cross. It is worth noting that since 2001 the "Nadezhda" boarding house has been operating at the Holy Trinity Monastery (intended for 3-18 year old girls - here they are given secondary education and brought up, instilling the foundations of Orthodoxy).
Resurrection monastery
Monastic life in the monastery was resumed in 1998. Not far from it, pilgrims will be able to draw water from the holy spring of Peter and Fevronia.
Holy Annunciation Monastery
Believers flock here for the sake of the miraculous icons of the Mother of God "Tikhvin", "Kazan", "Iverskaya", as well as the revered image of Nicholas the Wonderworker.
