The Siberian city at the confluence of Tura and Tyumenka was founded in 1586 by decree of Tsar Fyodor Ivanovich. However, evidence that people settled on the banks of these rivers back in the Iron Age, archaeologists have repeatedly found on the territory of modern Tyumen. The city reached its peak in the 19th century, becoming one of the most important junctions of the Trans-Siberian railway under construction. Today, its residents proudly show their guests the Tyumen embankment - unique and the only one in Russia built on four levels. Its length is almost four kilometers, and the height of all levels is 24 meters.
Russian-scale record holder
Three dozen architects and designers worked on the creation of the embankment in Tyumen. A project of this scale was implemented for the first time, and in 2012 Tyumen residents were able to celebrate the City Day on the comfortable bank of their beloved Tura.
Granite railings in the form of stormy river waves and original lanterns, an abundance of green spaces and skillfully designed lawns, a fountain-waterfall and sculptural compositions distinguish the Tyumen embankment from other city streets and make it a favorite place for walking and playing sports.
Structural elements of the embankment are connected by stairs, ramps and slopes, which allows both the elderly and mothers with strollers to walk here comfortably. Comfortable benches invite you to relax after a long walk or read your favorite book, and high-quality paving slabs make it possible for even the most inexperienced little athletes to safely roller-skate. There are special paths for cyclists on the Tura embankment in Tyumen.
