Cyprus is not only a beach destination. This stereotype can be broken by any traveler who decides to visit the waterfalls of Cyprus - there are special hiking routes to them.
Millomeris
This waterfall (formed by the Krios Potamos River) is located at an altitude of 1050 meters above sea level, and its streams rush down from a height of 15 m. The road to the waterfall will take half an hour - the route, 1200 m long, begins in the village 100 m from Faneromeni Church; there is a sign there). Good news for active vacationers - the path to the foot of Millomeris is facilitated by a built staircase and a wooden bridge (it simplifies the process of crossing the river bed). Vacationers who do not like walking will be delighted that Millomeris, almost to the water, can be reached by road (they will have to cover a small section of the path on foot).
Caledonia
The 13-meter waterfall is located 1300 meters above sea level, on the Krios Potamos River. A path surrounded by vegetation leads to the waterfall (everywhere you can see signs describing plants, trees and shrubs nearby).
Hantara
The location of the 8-meter Hantara waterfall (translated as “the sound of water”; located at an altitude of more than 1000 m above sea level) is the Diplos Potamos river (“double river”). Around Hantara there are stone paths along which it is easy to approach and admire the waterfall. After visiting the waterfall, you should look into the village of Foini - pottery masters live here (you can buy your favorite products), as well as find a trout farm located in its vicinity (here guests are offered to acquire freshly caught fish).
If you wish, you can go on a journey by purchasing an excursion at a local travel agency - its staff will help organize a one-day “jeep safari” to the Troodos mountains.
Mesa Potamos
The 7-meter waterfall flows down from the rocky rapids, forming a pool of emerald clear water for swimming. The waterfall is called double, because its flow first falls on one natural mountain “step”, and then on another. Nearby you can find a place reserved for picnics (from here there is a path to the waterfall), as well as the monastery of Timios Prodromos.
Waterfalls "Baths of Adonis"
The waterfalls are presented in the form of two low cascades that flow into the pond. Here, in fresh and cool waters, you can swim and admire the plaster statues of Adonis and Aphrodite. As for women, here they will be asked to make cosmetic masks based on healing mud.
