The waterfalls of the Leningrad Region are unique objects, the path to which is quite simple and accessible for all tourists who want to admire these water beauties.
Sablinsky waterfall
The waterfall, 2-4 m high (the reason for the fluctuations in height lies in erosion, variable water flow and other factors), is “fed” by the Sablinka River.
To find the Sablinsky waterfall, you need to walk along the river from the village of Ulyanovka - it will appeal to hikers: they can study the unusual caves located in the vicinity.
Tosno (Gertovsky) waterfall
It, with a height of about 2 m and a width of 20 m, is located on the Tosna River: for its rather majestic view, the waterfall will receive the nickname “Mini Niagara”. You can get to it both as part of an excursion group, and independently, on buses plying to it. Here you will be able to swim in warm water and take a “whirlpool bath” (the water pressure is different at different stages).
Swimming in a waterfall (has a V-shape) is unsafe during a flood because of a bubble that appears in the center, with a diameter of about 1 m (once in it, the chances of getting out are very small). During the high water period, travelers should not go kayaking either. The Tosno threshold is ideal for entertaining walks, and in the summertime, the river bank is suitable for organizing picnics.
In the waterfall channel, you can see traces of its previous position - they are presented in the form of water bowls, 4-5 m deep (there are boulders inside them).
Gorchakovshchinsky waterfall
The fall of water from a height of 4 meters can be observed all year round (the magnitude of the flow does not change due to a change in climate or season). The location of the waterfall is the Volkhov River (its right bank; signs from the nearby village will lead to the Gorchakovshchina waterfall) - on its bank you can retire in peace and quiet, feeling the energy of the surrounding nature.
