The capital of Hungary offers to get acquainted with the flat Pest and the hilly part of the city - Buda; get local products, souvenirs and made in Hungry clothes at the covered Central Market (19th century building); walk along Andrassy Avenue, admiring its sights; go to Margaret Island.

Szechenyi chain bridge

The bridge (there are arches and giant stone lions) connects 2 parts of the city; and every year (November 20) a holiday is held in his honor.

In summer and on weekends, the bridge is closed to vehicles for fun shows and fairs.

You can get to the bridge by buses No. 105, 86 and 16.

Parliament building

The external design of the building (the facade is decorated with various sculptures) reflects the elements of the neo-Gothic and architectural style “Parisian Beaux-Art”; The interior decoration is made in the style of the Middle Ages - here you can see stained-glass windows and mosaic panels, walk through some rooms, including the hunting and domed halls (which is a repository of the scepter, sword, crown of St. Stephen).

Useful information: guided tours are organized for tourists (cost - 5200 forints; 7 languages), address: Kossuth Lajos ter, 1-3, website: www.parlament.hu

Mount Gellert

From the mountain, over 230 m high, travelers will be able to admire Budapest, the Danube, Margaret Island (at the top of the Freedom Monument, you can use telescopes for 50 forints). The mountain is interesting for its citadel (earlier it served as an observation post, and today it is a recreation area with a beer bar and a restaurant), as well as a bathhouse located at its foot. It should be noted that the territory of the mountain is a kind of park, suitable for walks and active games.

Matthias Cathedral

Visitors will be able to see 2 columns that have survived to this day (1260), the tops of which are crowned with sculptures depicting demonic animals and monks fighting each other. Those who decide to inspect the cathedral (it has an 80-meter bell tower) from the inside will be able to admire the sculpture of the Madonna (it was created in the 16th century from marble), colored stained glass windows and wall paintings by the artists Szekey and Lotze. And since the cathedral is famous for its unique acoustics, you can attend frequent concerts here.

Heroes Square

This square is another symbol of Budapest: here you can see the 100th Anniversary Memorial (the height of the column is 118 feet; the figure of the Archangel Gabriel is installed on its top), two 85-meter colonnades, bronze statues of the country's rulers and heroes, and the Tomb of Unknown Soldiers. It is worth noting that next to Heroes' Square you can admire a large hourglass (they are turned over on New Year's Eve).
