This park in Canada's largest city was founded in 1974 on the site of the old Riverdale menagerie. Today the Toronto Zoo is the largest in the country. Its territory covers 280 hectares, and the variety of regions and climatic zones of the planet presented here is amazing. More than 5,000 animals of 450 species live in the park under the close supervision of caring staff and scientists involved in the conservation of endangered and rare species.
Metropolitan Toronto ZOO
The name of the Toronto Zoo is synonymous with a new approach to captive breeding and keeping of wild animals. All enclosures, pavilions and stands almost completely imitate the conditions of the wild, and none of the guests of the park feels cramped or uncomfortable. The naturalism of the environment allows visitors to feel like full-fledged naturalists in the wild.
Pride and achievement
The seven regions into which the Toronto Zoo is divided will help visitors travel to Indonesia, Africa, Australia, Eurasia, the vastness of the tundra, the American prairies and Canadian lakes. One of the most popular southern enclosures is the home of giant pandas, and the northern enclosures are the home of polar bears.
