Only about three hours by plane from Moscow or St. Petersburg, and Russian tourists find themselves in one of the airports in Bulgaria, from where the sun, the sea and the famous beaches of a friendly country are just a stone's throw away.
International airports in Bulgaria
Of the eight airports in Bulgaria, in addition to the capital, four air harbors are marked with the "international" status, of which the most popular among travelers are rightfully considered:
- Burgas airport. The second largest in the country and the main one in the region, it unites the direction of the southern resorts. The city where the airport is located is visited annually by thousands of tourists who prefer a beach holiday on the Black Sea Bulgarian Riviera. The center of Burgas and the airport are separated by a distance of 10 km, and the transfer of passengers is carried out by taxi or buses, stopping near the exit from the terminal. Travel time is less than half an hour. Among the Russian airlines serving passengers in this direction are Yamal, UTair, Saratov Airlines, Severstal, Nordavia, Ikar and Metrojet. - Regular flights of the airlines S7, Bulgaria Air, Austrian Airlines make regular flights to the airport of Bulgaria in Varna. Seasonal flights are available with Ural Airlines, Russia, Moldovan, Latvian and some other European air carriers. Charters in the summer are carried out by dozens of low-cost airlines, including direct flights from Krasnodar, Surgut, Saratov, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Belgorod and Moscow are available to Russian travelers. Metropolitan direction
Bulgaria's main airport is located 5 km east of Sofia, and its two terminals serve up to 4 million people annually. In the first one, charters are accepted and sent, and in the second - new and modern - passengers of regular flights of almost all major airlines of the Old World await departure. In addition to popular European carriers, Turkish, Dubai, Qatari and Israeli airlines land at Bulgaria's airport in Sofia.
The airport offers duty-free shops and restaurants of European and national cuisine, bank branches and exchange offices, car rental and post office for guests and visitors of the airport, and elevators and escalators are provided in the terminals for persons with disabilities.
The easiest way to transfer from the airport to the capital is by metro, the station of which is located next to Terminal 2. By buses NN 84 and 384 it is easy to get to the Sofia University and the metro station Tsargradskoe shosse.
