The rapidly developing tourist infrastructure of Montenegro is becoming a weighty argument in favor of recreation in this Balkan republic. To get to the local beaches on the Adriatic coast, you just need to buy a plane ticket and land at one of the airports in Montenegro. Which one should you choose? It all depends on the place of the intended rest.
Transaero Airlines makes direct flights to Montenegro, and with transfers in Europe, you can fly on board Montenegro Airlines, Adria, Austrian Airlines and some others. During the high beach season from April to September, in addition to regular Transaero flights, Russian travelers can use the services of S7 Airlines, which flies to Tivat.
International airports in Montenegro
Airplanes of world famous airlines land at two airports in Montenegro with international status:
- The city where Tivat Airport is located is only four kilometers from the passenger terminal. Tivat is chosen by those tourists who go on vacation to the beaches of the Bay of Kotor or the Budva Riviera.
- The airport in Podgorica is called Golubovtsi. It is located 11 km south of the city and can be used by those who travel to the resorts of the Barskaya or Ultsinskaya Riviera.
Distances from airport terminals to popular resorts are:
- From Tivat airport to Budva - 21 km, to Petrovac - 33 km, to Kotor - only four.
- From Podgorica airport to Budva - 60 km, to Ulcinj - 100 km, to Herceg Novi - 120 km, to Cetinje - a little less than 40 km, to Petrovac - 37.
Tivat
The only passenger terminal of Montenegro airport in Tivat was opened in 1971. It is open from 7 am to sunset in summer, and in winter the terminal is open from 7 am to 4 pm. There are no late evening and night flights in Tivat, and the city can be reached by taxi or shuttle bus. There is a bus stop at the exit from the terminal at the intersection with the Adriatic Highway; one-way fares range from 2 to 3 euros, depending on the carrier company.

Podgorica
The small international airport of Montenegro, located near Podgorica, was awarded the title of the best among its kind in Europe in 2007. The second modern terminal was built in 2006 and its infrastructure fully meets the requirements of high-class passenger service. A café and a car park will help those who greet and see them off to while away the time, and duty-free shops fully satisfy the demand for Montenegrin souvenirs.
The airport of the capital operates around the clock and for a smooth check-in, it is enough to arrive at the terminal 2 hours before departure.
