The countries of the Scandinavian Peninsula are not much different from their closest neighbors. The striving for independence, independence is inherent in them to the same extent as in other European states. The coat of arms of Sweden, which is one of the main symbols, emphasizes loyalty to tradition and aspiration for the future.
There is also a difference from its neighbors - in Sweden they distinguish between the Large State Emblem and the Small State Emblem. The first, of course, consists of several parts, it is at the same time the main symbol of the head of state. The second is, in fact, the main emblem of the Swedish state.
Great coat of arms of Sweden
The construction of the Swedish coat of arms is regulated by a special law, which thoroughly spelled out what parts it consists of, what colors are used, what symbols and signs must be present:
- azure shield;
- a golden cross dividing the field of the shield into four parts;
- in the center - the coat of arms of the royal house.
In addition, each of the fields of the shield has its own symbols, for example, in the first and third parts of it there are three golden crowns (triangle). In the second and fourth parts, silver is added to the azure, making a total of six oblique stripes. Against their background, a golden lion with a crown and scarlet weapons.
The field of the coat of arms of the royal house is also divided into several parts. On the left side is the coat of arms of the famous Vaza house, which is a golden sheaf against the background of oblique stripes of azure, silver and scarlet colors. On the right side of the shield, the symbols of the Bernadotte house were found, below, in the azure field, a bridge with three arches and two crenellated towers, and above, above the bridge, there is an image of an eagle looking to the left. Above the bird is the constellation Ursa Major (seven golden stars).
But that's not all, the Swedish coat of arms is crowned with a crown. Golden lions, symbols of royalty, support the shield on both sides. The royal purple robe trimmed with ermine fur, gold fringe, tassels and cords serves as a beautiful background to complete the composition.
Small Swedish coat of arms
It is simple, but beautiful and deeply symbolic. As the Small State Emblem of Sweden, a royal shield of a noble azure color and three golden crowns are used - one below, two above.
Authorities must obtain permission to use the Small Swedish Coat of Arms. The head of state can use the large coat of arms, as well as in some cases - the government, parliament, diplomatic missions of Sweden abroad.
