Every person who plans to spend a profitable and exciting shopping in the Czech Republic should know about the current tax free system. At the same time, it is extremely important to familiarize yourself with the terms and conditions.

Tax free terms

  • The purchase must be made for at least 2500 CZK (approx. 80 EUR) in one store.
  • Purchased and unpacked goods must be exported outside the state within three months.
  • The issued tax-free check is valid for five months.
  • The VAT rate is 19%.

Currently, there are two tax free systems in the Czech Republic, namely Global Blue (better known) and Premier Tax Free (distinguished by a limited brand catalog).

Features of obtaining tax free

As you know, in order to return VAT, you must go through the established stages. While shopping in the store, you should make sure that there is a Global Blue logo or ask the service staff a question of interest, making sure that such services are provided. This must be done without fail, since not all stores allow foreign citizens to return part of the amount that was spent on the purchase of goods. When paying for the purchase, you must ask for a receipt, on the basis of which the VAT refund will be made. If you want to issue a refund to a credit card, its number must be indicated on the receipt received.

You will go through the next stage only when you leave the Czech Republic. The customs officer to whom you present the new product, receipts and passport must stamp the receipt. Moreover, if you plan to continue your tourist trip to Europe, you will need to go through this stage in the last state of your stay.

After successfully completing the first two stages, the receipt can be cashed and for this you need to contact the Global Blue Customer Services office. You will need to provide a receipt stamped at customs, a credit card (if the funds will be returned by non-cash method) and a passport. Keep in mind that it is best to take money in the Czech Republic in Czech crowns, and not in euros, as this will turn out to be the most profitable option. Taking advantage of the tax free in the Czech Republic and receiving Czech crowns, you can visit the Duty Free store and continue making interesting, valuable purchases.

Enjoy all the advantages of shopping in the Czech Republic, because it is possible thanks to democratic prices, tax free and Duty Free!
