Transport in Singapore is a developed system of various types of communications: travelers can travel not only by buses, but also by airplanes, ferries, cycle rickshaws, by cable car …

The main modes of transport in Singapore:

- Public transport: it is represented by fixed-route taxis, metro, buses, funiculars.

Bus transport is popular in Singapore: you can pay for the fare with a special card or coins, which must be put in the driver's box (it is not customary to give change, so it is advisable to stock up on small change before the trip).

Those wishing to take a sightseeing tour of Singapore should take a trip on a roofless tourist double-decker bus.

In addition, tourists are offered to ride on tourist amphibious buses: they carry travelers past the city embankments, and then along the river and the sea bay (the trip takes 1 hour).

By cable car you can reach Sentosa Island (the road goes high above the strait). During the trip, you will be able to admire the Singapore skyscrapers, the bay, the port of Singapore.

To pay for travel, you can purchase Ez-Link - thanks to this electronic smart card (at the entrance and exit from the transport it must be applied to the reader - card reader), you can save on your movements (about 15%).

To travel unlimitedly by public transport (metro, light metro, bus), it makes sense to get a Singapore Tourist Pass, valid for 1, 2, 3, 5 days (its use is identical to the use of Ez-Link).

- Water transport: river cruises on the Singapore River are organized for everyone. From the boat you can see the statue of Merlion, the Esplanade theater and other interesting sights.

Taxi

Taxi services on the island are provided by 4 taxi companies: all cars are equipped with meters, so payment must be made according to its indications.

In general, taxi fares are not very expensive, but from 23:00 there is a night tariff that increases the cost of the trip by 50%.

You can pay in a taxi with cash or credit cards, but in the latter case, you will be charged a small commission.

Traveling by cycle rickshaws will cost more (you need to negotiate the price before setting off) than by taxi, but many tourists prefer to travel on them in order to feel the Asian exoticism.

Car rent

Renting a car on the island is an expensive service (about $ 150 / day), but you only need a passport and a driver's license to conclude a lease (minimum age is 18).

It should be noted that there is a left-hand traffic in Singapore and, in addition, compliance with traffic rules is strictly controlled on the island. So, for driving without a seat belt and with the headlights off from 7 pm to 7 am and other violations, a system of fines is provided.

Traveling around Singapore is a pleasure, because the state has an excellent road network and there are practically no traffic jams.
