The Sea of Azov is located in the east of Europe. It is considered the shallowest sea on the planet, since the deepest point is fixed at 13.5 m. In fact, it is a flat sea or shallow body of water surrounded by low shores.
The slopes of the Sea of Azov are usually sandy and flat. Steep mountains and volcanic hills are found only on the southern coast.

If we compare the Azov and Aral seas, then the area of the latter is twice as large. As for the Black Sea, its area is 11 times larger than the area of the Azov Sea. The maximum length of the Azov reservoir is 380 km, and the width is about 200 km. The coastline stretches for a total of almost 2,700 km.

Climate
The Sea of Azov is under the influence of the continental climate, as it stretches in the zone of temperate latitudes. In the north of the area, winters are cold and summers are dry and hot. On the southern shores, the climate is milder, there is a lot of precipitation.
The weather of this region in winter and autumn is influenced by the Siberian anticyclone. It causes the formation of cold winds. This period is characterized by powerful storms with a speed of more than 15 m / s, as well as a sudden drop in air temperature. During stormy winds, the temperature can drop to -27 degrees.
Coastal zone
The coast of the Azov Sea is the location of numerous resorts. This sea is actively influenced by human economic activities. Fishing is well developed here. People harvest sturgeon and other types of marine products. But the pace of fishing is gradually decreasing due to the decrease in the number of inhabitants of the deep sea.
The Sea of Azov washes the coast of Russia and Ukraine and is famous for its first-class resorts: Yeisk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Taganrog, Kerch, Mariupol, etc.
Compared to the Black Sea coast, the Azov coast is not so diverse and beautiful. However, it is also very picturesque. The steppes in many areas come close to the shores.
In these areas, the beaches are usually sandy-shell, in some places there are floodplains overgrown with reeds. The shores have gentle curves, but in some areas there are long sandy spits.
