Airport "Yuzhny" in Ivanovo is located towards the south-eastern outskirts of the city, at a distance of seven kilometers from its center. The runway of the airline, covered with reinforced concrete, is 2.5 kilometers. Until 1990, air passenger and cargo transportation was carried out from here to more than 35 cities in Russia. Unfortunately, recently the number of flights from Ivanovo has significantly decreased.
History
The history of the creation of the airport goes back to 1939, when a unit of Po-2 and U-2 aircraft was founded to carry out cargo, postal and sanitary air transportation.
In 1952, new An-2s were added to the existing aircraft, and by the end of the 50s a new terminal building was launched. Gradually renewing its fleet of cars, the airport expanded the geography of flights and increased passenger traffic. By 1990, the airline already served more than 400 thousand passengers a year, and in 1997 it received international status. But already in 2003, due to the financial crisis, the airport ceased operations and mothballed production facilities. His work was restored only in 2006. After the reconstruction of the runway and the terminal building, flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Anapa, and other cities of Russia were resumed.

Small in size, but quite cozy airport in Ivanovo provides a full range of services for comfortable passenger service. On its territory there is a room for a mother and a child, a medical center, and cozy waiting rooms. There is a cafe, restaurant, bar. Rospechat kiosks, post office, currency exchange office are open. Luggage packing points offer their services to protect it from damage while driving.

Transport
There is regular public transport from the airport to Ivanovo. The central streets of the city can be reached by Trolleybus # 11 or minibus # 133, which has 16 seats. In addition, the city transport company "IvTransfer" offers taxi services, which can be ordered by phone while still in the air.
