There are two airports in the city of Yerevan:
The airport in Yerevan "Erebuni" is an allied-use enterprise located seven kilometers south of the city center. It is used to receive and service military aircraft and, in parallel, is engaged in civilian transportation. Namely - the implementation of charter flights within the country and the CIS countries.
International airport in Yerevan "Zvartnots". The airline is located 12 km from the city in the direction of its western part and is considered a transit gateway connecting Europe and Asia. The length of its runway is 3, 8 kilometers, which allows the company to receive any type of aircraft. The airport's passenger traffic is more than 3.5 million people a year. The largest number of flights is operated by Air Armenia.
History
The first passenger air traffic from Yerevan fell on 1980, when the new airport โZvartnotsโ was launched. From here, daily flights were made to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sverdlovsk and 50 more cities of the Soviet Union.
In 2001, Zvartnots was leased by the Argentine airline Aeropuertos Argentina for up to 30 years. The company has carried out significant renovations at the airport. Today, the useful area of the airport terminals is almost 34 thousand square meters, more than half of which is occupied by a parking lot.
In January 2013, the airport in Yerevan was awarded the title of "Best Airport in the CIS and Baltic States" in the "Airports of Developing Countries" competition.
Service and services
The airport in Yerevan provides passengers with a full range of services that meet the requirements of international standards. On the territory of the airport, there are arrival and departure zones with cozy waiting rooms, registration points using interactive technologies, a mother and child room, a first-aid post, and a luggage room. There are ATMs, a post office, and free Internet is provided throughout the new terminal. Duty-free shops, a restaurant, a cafe, luggage packing points have been opened.
Transport
Regular buses run from the airport to the city on routes 17 and 18. Travel time takes only 30 - 40 minutes. Minibuses run along the same routes.
You can use the services of a city taxi, which can be ordered at the counter of the transport company on the territory of the airport or by phone.
In addition, there is a car rental service at the airport.
