Cuba has a population of over 11 million.

As soon as the Spanish began to explore the island, they began to destroy the indigenous population of Cuba. But since they needed slaves to work on the plantations, they brought slaves here from Africa, Chinese from Asia, Indian slaves from South and Central America.

Throughout the history of Cuba, emigrants from Spain, Germany, Britain and France came to the island. And in the 20th century, a lot of Americans arrived here.

On average, Cubans live up to 78 years. Cuba is famous for its low death rates from cancer and heart attacks.

It is not customary here to spare money on medicine (the state allocates 2.5 times more for health care than in Russia). In addition, Cubans are urged to be attentive to their health - this is "shouted" on TV and radio.

Traditions and customs of the inhabitants of Cuba

Cubans are funny, witty, musical people who love to celebrate various holidays. Especially favorite holidays are Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and Father's Day. On these days, it is customary to give gifts, sit late at the table at home, in a restaurant or at guests (parents allow children to change the daily routine).

Most of the customs of the Cubans are associated with the holidays. So, they spend a whole year saving money for a carnival in order to acquire a chic carnival costume or ordinary good clothes. And during the carnival period, it is customary to have fun all night to the rhythms of salsa.

Another traditional Cuban custom is to drink rum and smoke cigars while sitting on the terrace (sometimes for hours on end).

Cuban families are big and friendly: all family members treat each other with warmth, respect and understanding.

Despite the fact that Cubans receive a meager salary, the state gives them everything they need (rice, flour, sugar, cereals, bread). They buy shoes and clothes on coupons for little money. But in order to buy a house, car or cell phone, Cubans must obtain special permission from the authorities.

If you decide to make a trip to Cuba, be sure that Liberty Island will give you a warm and cordial welcome, because people who are friendly towards foreign tourists live here.
