Description of the attraction

Mount Cheget is located in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, in the Caucasus mountain range, not far from Elbrus. The height of the mountain is 3650 m. Mount Cheget is known to all lovers of skiing and mountain tourism. Skiers consider the local slopes to be among the most difficult in the world. In total, there are fifteen ski slopes with an altitude difference from 2100 m to 3050 m. All of them are available for skiing from late autumn to late spring. The tracks are equipped for both training driving and ski competitions.

Currently, there are four non-high-speed lifts operating on Mount Cheget, so the queue for them is constantly formed. In 1963, a chairlift was put into operation on Cheget (length - 1600 m, elevation difference - 650 m). The opening of the cable car took place in 1969.

The ski slopes of the mountain are highly dependent on weather conditions, as they are not equipped with snow cannons. In addition to the difficulties, the potential danger of each of the Cheget mountain slopes should not be underestimated. The slopes of this mountain are indicated on the schemes as difficult, medium and easy. But according to the skiers themselves, this difficulty is rather arbitrary. Oftentimes, an easy track is much more difficult to complete than expected.

On the slope of Mount Cheget there is an observation deck and a cozy cafe (at an altitude of 2719 m). Tourists visiting Mount Cheget can also enjoy an amazing panorama from the mountain: on the one hand - the village of Terskol, the two-headed Elbrus and the Baksan gorge, and on the other - Kogutai, Nakra and Donguz-Orun.

Clean mountain air, a combination of alpine meadows, coniferous forests, woody and shrub woodlands, picturesque valleys and gorges give the Elbrus region a unique image. Mount Cheget is a real paradise for lovers of outdoor activities and extreme sports.
