Description of the attraction
Monument to Yak-7B is a famous monument that was erected in the city of Naryan-Mar in the spring of May 8, 2010. The monument that appeared in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug had previously adorned its hometown, although it was dismantled.
The history of the Yak-7B aircraft is especially dear for the majority of Naryan-Mar residents. As you know, during the Great Patriotic War, there was a shortage of air technology, which is why the residents of the city began to collect money for new aircraft with all their might. In total, we managed to collect about 4.5 million rubles. City dwellers independently purchased a Yak-7B aircraft. In the fall of September 7, 1944, the workers of the district gave the plane to one of the talented pilots of the White Sea flotilla Tarasov Alexei Kondratyevich - Hero of the Soviet Union and the legendary pilot.
Alexei Tarasov flew more than three hundred flights during the war years on the new donated aircraft, and also took part in 65 hostilities, while an experienced pilot was able to shoot down twelve German aircraft. It is worth noting that an incredible story happened with Alexei Kondratyevich, when, taking part in an air battle with fascist pilots who attacked on a Fock-Wulf 190 fighter, he shot down two enemy planes at once. As soon as the Great Patriotic War ended, Tarasov handed over his legendary plane, which was decorated with twelve stars, to the residents of the city of Naryan-Mar. The number of stars on an aircraft is known to indicate the number of aircraft shot down.
The famous Yak-7B aircraft was installed on a high pedestal made of wood in the area of the Seaport. For quite a long period of time, the plane stood in this place, but soon it fell into disrepair and was simply dismantled. By a happy coincidence, the engine of the Yak-7B aircraft in 1965 was transferred to the district Nenets museum of local lore, and the body itself was divided into parts and thrown away, thereby forever losing the military relic.
After some time, the members of the Light Aviation Association, in cooperation with the public, decided to restore the military-historical shrine. A lot of time was spent on solving this issue, after which the regional authorities announced the start of collecting donations, because there was not enough money to restore the monument. Residents gladly responded, after which the required amount of money was collected as soon as possible.
The design layout of the monument was created gradually, since the size, which had to exactly correspond to reality, caused a particular difficulty. Georgy Sharkutov, an aircraft designer from Moscow, became the head of the work.
The monumental aircraft is completely made of fiberglass with the use of composite materials of the latest developments. The decorative layer of the aircraft was made of high-strength gelcoats - frost-resistant materials that are not afraid of ultraviolet radiation. The work carried out concerning the development and installation of the legendary plane received the blessing of the church ministers of Naryan-Mar, because the monumental plane is right in front of the temple. The process of establishing the monument became an inevitable pattern for the residents of the city, since the Hero of the USSR Alexei Tarasov was perceived from the very beginning as a fellow countryman.
At the moment, at the intersection of Smidovich and Lenin streets, there is an exact copy of the Yak-7B aircraft, around which there is an equipped area. Now this place is very popular among the residents of Naryan-Mar, because the adjacent territory is equipped with benches and green spaces: trees are planted here, flower beds are equipped. There are always a lot of people here, when on weekdays you can relax, sitting on benches, and on holidays, when various solemn events or rallies are held near the monument.
