Description of the attraction
Wildlife Park "Rainforest Habitat" is famous for its huge collection of animals - about 1600 individuals! It is located on 8 acres of land near Port Douglas. Visitors to the park can choose to explore one of four zones that accurately represent natural ecological systems - rainforest, wetlands, forests and grasslands.
In the wetland area, you can find an amazing variety of wading birds fishing in the channels below the footpaths. The rainforest zone introduces the inhabitants of the humid tropics - exotic helmet cassowaries, Boyd's forest dragons and colorful parrots. The Meadow Zone is an open-air exposition that recreates the continental and coastal plains. Here you can see a variety of kangaroos and wallabies. Boardwalk walking paths rise above lagoons where crocodiles lurk in the dark waters.
A highlight of the park is the so-called "bird breakfast": visitors can enjoy one of the best tropical buffets in Queensland, surrounded by sounds and vibrant colors of wildlife.
Regular guided hiking trails are an important part of the park's biodiversity conservation efforts, as well as engaging visitors with wildlife. All this has allowed the park to become the winner of many Queensland tourism awards.
