Fascinating landscapes, rich flora and fauna of Anshi National Park, located in the Northern Ghats on the border of the states of Goa and Karnataka, will help you to get real pleasure from communicating with this country.
In 1956, the territory where Anshi is currently located was given the status of a reserve, and in 1987 a proposal was made to cut down part of the forest to create a park. And already in 2002 the construction of the park was finally completed. Now its area is about 90 sq km, which is covered with lush tropical vegetation. Among the most common plants in Anshi Park are bamboo, felt calophyllum, lantana, eucalyptus. Teak also grows there, which is widely used in construction and is primarily appreciated for being not afraid of termites.
The forests of the park are home to many animals, including endangered species. Wild boars, Indian bison, sambars, axis, sloth bears, jungle cats, jackals, giant Indian squirrels, flying squirrels, wild dogs, porcupines live there. But most of all, Anshi is famous for black panthers, Bengal tigers and elephants.
Also in the park you can find a king cobra, tiger python, zipo snake, monitor lizard. Of the birds, gray artams, yellow-footed green pigeons, Ceylon frogs, Indian hornbirds are often found.
In the park, you can even rent housing, which is located on the territory of a kind of "nature" camp.
To visit Anshi National Park, you should choose the period from October to May, when the weather conditions are most favorable.
