Description of the attraction
The CN Tower, or the National Tower of Canada, is one of the tallest structures in the world, a symbol of Canada, as well as a visiting card and one of the most popular attractions in the city of Toronto, attracting more than two million visitors annually.
Construction of the CN Tower began in February 1973 for the Canadian National Railway Company and 40 months later, in June 1976, this impressive and incredibly elegant "miracle of engineering", 553.33 m high, was open to the public. At the time of its construction, the CN Tower became the tallest free-standing structure in the world and retained this status until 2007.
Today, the CN Tower is the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere and the third in the world after Dubai's Burj Khalifa (829.8 m) and Gaunzhou TV Tower (600 m).
The main "highlights" of the CN Tower are a luxurious restaurant located at an altitude of 351 m and a magnificent observation deck at an altitude of 342 m - a world famous observation deck with a glass floor, the unique design of which can withstand a weight of up to 109 tons per sq. Cm. A special feature of the restaurant is the rotating surface on which it is equipped (a full revolution takes 72 minutes), which allows the guests of the CN Tower to simultaneously enjoy a delicious lunch and fantastic panoramic views (on a clear day, the visibility is 100-120 km).
Fans of extreme sports can fully tickle their nerves, "walking" along the open cornice around the observation deck at an altitude of 346 m, of course, with insurance. This attraction was opened in 2011 and is called "Edge Walk".
