Description of the attraction
The Ice Age Museum-Theater is the largest private paleontological museum in Russia. It is located at the All-Russian Exhibition Center in Moscow, in pavilion 71.
The museum was founded in 2004 by F. K. Shidlovsky. The Ice Age Museum-Theater is a scientific and exposition center. Its task is to popularize knowledge about the animals of the Ice Age. The most important activity of the museum is to provide paleontologists with the opportunity to study and research unique exhibits.
The basis of the museum's exposition is the richest paleontological collections in the composition of exhibits, which were collected by the Shidlovsky National Alliance during expeditions in the South Urals, Altai, in the northeast of Yakutia and in Chukotka.
In the first hall, you can see an exposition, which presents samples of animals that lived on Earth at the same time as mammoths. Among the exhibits are skeletons and skulls of such unique animals as woolly rhinoceros, cave bear, primitive bison, cave lion and other rare exhibits.
The central hall of the museum tells about mammoths - the brightest representatives of the Ice Age. On display are the skulls and skeletons of these ancient animals, the mummified skin of mammoths, their fur and skeletal remains, teeth and tusks, the jaws of giants. The main attraction of the hall is the revolving podium, on which a group of life-sized mammoths was placed. Their appearance has been recreated as it was many thousands of years ago. In all its grandeur, visitors are presented with the symbol of the Ice Age - the gigantic mammoth. The majesty of the spectacle is emphasized by light and sound effects.
In the final hall of the museum exposition, bone carving art is presented. Here you can see ancient examples of this art and the work of modern masters. It presents samples of bone carving art of various schools and trends. Many products are available for purchase.
The museum has a grandiose art project - the creation of the Mammoth Chamber. The best masters - bone carvers of Russia will take part in it.
