Description of the attraction

The house-museum of D. Yavornitsky is located in a cozy corner among velvet greenery in the beautiful city of Dnepropetrovsk, st. Yavornytskogo, 5. This one of the oldest houses in Ukraine, which was opened to its visitors in November 1988.

The memorial house-museum was founded in honor of the outstanding Ukrainian historian, academician DI Yavornytsky. It was here that the scientist lived and worked for 35 years of his life. From 1964-1974, a room-museum of D. Yavornitsky worked in the house. In 1970 the building was recognized as a historical monument of local importance, and since 2001 the house has been given the status of a monument of national importance.

House-Museum. D. Yavornitskiy was designed by the famous architect - L. Branitskiy. In this unique house, visitors will undoubtedly be amazed by the architectural layouts of the rooms, which have been preserved in the form in which they were created by the owner. In one of the rooms there is an extensive exposition about the life and work of the scientist. Visiting it, you can see personal belongings, photographs of D. Yavornitsky, icons, and also get acquainted with all of his works. The museum has preserved a large number of documents and historical sources that belonged, first of all, to Dmitry Ivanovich himself. They are composed of several sections: autographs of D. I. Yavornitsky, "Russian Notebook" (1869), notebooks and working documents, archaeological documents, letters to D. I. Yavornitsky, as well as a decree on perpetuating the memory of the academician.

In his own house, D. Yavornitsky surrounded himself with such images, the love for which he carried throughout his life. This is evidenced by the unique murals on the lobby wall, which seem to stop a moment of history.

The memorial house has preserved the unique image of the personality of its owner, immortalized by his greatest work in the field of science and culture of Ukraine.
