Description of the attraction

Agios Petros, or Agia Petros, is a small mountain village in the southern part of the Greek island of Lefkada. The settlement is located 35 km southwest of the administrative center of the island of Lefkada, and is part of the municipality of Lefkada. The settlement got its name in honor of the Church of St. Peter, built here in the 14th century. Agios Petros has a population of just over 500 people. The main occupations of the inhabitants are agriculture, fishing and animal husbandry.

Located on the slopes of Mount Elati at an altitude of about 350 m above sea level, Agios Petros is literally immersed in greenery, a traditional Greek settlement with pretty stone houses, labyrinths of narrow streets and, of course, a genuine atmosphere of hospitality and cordiality of local residents. In the center of Agios Petros rises the main village church - Agios Athanasios, a spacious one-nave temple with an impressive bell tower.

Ayios Petros is an ideal place for those wishing to relax in silence, away from the noisy crowds of tourists and the hustle and bustle of the locals, enjoying the unhurried pace of life of the locals, as well as incredible landscapes and stunning panoramic views from the slopes of Elati. The cozy restaurants and taverns of Agios Petros will delight their guests with excellent cuisine.

Just 4 km from Agios Petros, on the shore of a picturesque natural bay, is the resort town of Vasiliki - one of the best and most popular resorts on the island of Lefkada with a well-developed tourist infrastructure and a lot of opportunities for active pastime (windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, horse riding, cycling, etc. etc.).
