Description of the attraction
Agios Petros, or Agia Petros, is a small mountain village in the southern part of the Greek island of Lefkada. The settlement is located 35 km southwest of the administrative center of the island of Lefkada, and is part of the municipality of Lefkada. The settlement got its name in honor of the Church of St. Peter, built here in the 14th century. Agios Petros has a population of just over 500 people. The main occupations of the inhabitants are agriculture, fishing and animal husbandry.
Located on the slopes of Mount Elati at an altitude of about 350 m above sea level, Agios Petros is literally immersed in greenery, a traditional Greek settlement with pretty stone houses, labyrinths of narrow streets and, of course, a genuine atmosphere of hospitality and cordiality of local residents. In the center of Agios Petros rises the main village church - Agios Athanasios, a spacious one-nave temple with an impressive bell tower.
