Description of the attraction

The Kosovar Museum of the Liberation Struggle of the Carpathian Region is located in the city of Kosiv, Nezalezhnosti Street, 55. A museum dedicated to the historical events of 1920-1954. was established on March 11, 1999 according to the decision of the V session of the Kosovo District Council, together with the regional organization of the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists. Since 2004 the museum has been a part of the state fund of the museum of Ukraine, and since 2006 it has become a branch of the regional museum.

The exposition of the museum is designed with the use of special light effects and sound. In the funds of the Museum of the Liberation Struggle of the Carpathian Territory, there are more than 1440 exhibits. The thematic exposition of the Kosovo Museum covers the period of the 20-50s. XX century and illuminates all the glorious pages of Ukrainian statehood, which include: the heroic struggle of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, the struggle of civilians against the occupation regimes, the activities of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and repression against Ukrainians. The basis of the museum exposition was the materials collected by the member of the Ukrainian Resistance Movement Daria Koshak, materials from the Yavoriv photo archive of the UPA, documents and exhibits that came to the museum from various caring people.

The main goal of the museum is to preserve the memory of the true, not distorted by Soviet ideology, the history of the liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people, as well as to foster patriotism in modern Ukrainian youth. For this, the museum has a small library, which everyone can visit. Also, the museum keeps a book in memory of the victims of repression, which lists the names of the victims.
