Description of the attraction
The Museum of Theatrical and Musical Art of Ukraine attracts tourists with real art, which is characterized by a modern view of theater and music.
The exhibition in this stunning museum is dedicated to the history of the formation of the Ukrainian theater, to all the essential moments that shaped the theatrical art in Ukraine and contributed to its development. The history of the theater in the museum begins with the history of the most ancient folk ritual games, which is very important in the modern world, where even such concepts as rituals and traditions are gradually being lost. The history of theatrical art ends at the beginning of the 20th century.
To get to this museum, you need to drive to the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, since the Museum of Theatrical and Musical Art of Ukraine is located exactly on the territory of the Lavra. This treasury of art history is housed in a two-story building of the former Lavra hospital. The entire building was donated for this exhibition. And in general, in this museum you can see about four thousand various exhibits.
The exposition opens with three old nativity scenes (a nativity scene is a traditional box containing dolls for a Christmas play). Of particular interest are expositions of creativity and life paths of the leading figures of the Ukrainian theater.
The second floor is a collection of Ukrainian musical instruments. Special attention is paid to the history of such instruments as gusli, kobza, wheeled lyre, bandura, cymbals.
