The St. Petersburg State Children's Drama Theater "On the Neve" is the brainchild of its permanent leader, Honored Art Worker of Russia Tatyana Savenkova. It was created by her at the Pigment club. The first performance of the collective took place in September 1987. It was a production of Puss in Boots, which was immediately remembered and loved by the audience.

After four years, in 1991, the theater received state status. In 1992, the city authorities donated to the troupe the building in which the barracks of the Izmailovsky regiment were located, located in Sovetsky Lane, which was rebuilt during the Soviet Union under the Leninsky District Committee. After reconstruction, a theater and concert complex with an auditorium for 600 people was located there.

The theater "On the Neva" is also known for its charitable work. Children who are brought up in large families, children deprived of parental care, disabled people and boarding school students are constantly invited to the performances.

Theater "On the Neve" is part of the Russian Center of the International Association of Theaters for Children, in which there are 76 participating countries.

Since 2005, on the basis of the theater, a recruitment of the GITIS acting course has been held annually.

The permanent director of the theater "On the Neva" Tatiana Arkadyevna Savenkova was born in Leningrad. She is a graduate of GITIS. As a 3rd year student, she was invited by the renowned director A. Goncharov to the troupe of V. Mayakovsky's theater. In the 80s she returned to Leningrad, created the Children's fairy tale drama theater. Graduated from directing courses (workshop of M. A. Zakharov). Tatiana Savenkova is a member of the international jury of children's theater festivals.
