Description of the attraction

Lake Moorsee is located about a kilometer from the center of the Tyrolean town of Söll, known as a ski resort. Its area is 9,200 square meters, and the depth reaches four meters.

On the shores of the lake there are many hotels, sanatoriums and guest houses, in particular it is worth noting the Gasthaus Moorsee resort center, which provides its services to tourists, both fully staying for a few days in this city, and visitors. This charming hotel is a typical Tyrolean building with two floors and an attic and a steep sloping roof. In its appearance, bright yellow balconies, immersed in greenery and flowers, stand out especially.

Lake Moorsee is popular with tourists both in summer and winter. Since it completely freezes during the cold season, you can skate on it or even play the so-called "eissstock", better known as Bavarian curling. Participants compete in the accuracy or range of throwing a heavy projectile onto an ice surface. The sport has even been shown twice at the Winter Olympics.

In summer, Lake Moorsee becomes the center of fishing, and the picturesque hilly surroundings offer thousands of different routes for sport walking or even mountain climbing. And then tired travelers can go down to the already mentioned Gasthaus Moorsee hotel and have a bite to eat on the open terrace at the very shore of the lake. The restaurant is open until midnight every day except Mondays.

Among other things, the city of Söll itself provides many opportunities for active winter recreation, as it is home to the large ski resort Wilder Kaiser.
