Description of the attraction

In 2004 in Nikolaev on the square. Lenin's chapel was founded by St. Nicholas. The idea to build a chapel in honor of the patron saint of the city - St. Nicholas - belonged to the entrepreneur G. Zhiltsov. After the walls of the chapel were erected, further construction was suspended due to the financial difficulties of the entrepreneur.

In 2007, another businessman of Nikolaev, I. Danishevsky, having received the blessing of Archbishop Pitirim, continued construction. But it was no longer a chapel, but a temple - the place where the divine service of the Orthodox Church is held - the Divine Liturgy. In accordance with the new architectural plan, two previously built walls were demolished, a vestibule was erected and the altar part was expanded. Gold leaf was used for the gilding of the crosses, and the dome is covered with titanium nitrite, popularly called "blue gold light". The specialists worked on the dome part for about two years. And a year later, in March, the dome and the cross with the help of a special crane were installed at an 18-meter height.

In the course of construction, the idea came up to decorate the windows with colored stained-glass windows. Stained-glass windows with scenes from the life of St. Nicholas are installed on three sides of the church. Above the paintings by the "golden light" there will be inscribed phrases taken from the akathist to the Saint. The creation and installation of the iconostasis took about a year. For this, marble of three colors was used, delivered from Greece and Spain. The statues of the Archangels - Gabriel, Michael, Uriel and Raphael, which adorn the temple from four sides - have become an excellent architectural solution.
