Description of the attraction

In the northwest of the Dinaric Highlands, in the eastern Lika, there is a unique work of nature - the largest national park in Croatia, Plitvice Lakes.

The most important attraction of the park, whose main task is to protect the unique landscape, natural vegetation and geological formations, is a cascade of 16 picturesque karst lakes in the upper reaches of the Korana River, connected by 92 waterfalls. The lakes, located by a staircase, whose steps form barriers of limestone tuff, are rightfully considered a real treasure of Croatia.

However, the lakes are not all the attractions of the national park, an important component of which are caves in the amount of 36 pieces, the most famous of which are Golubnyacha and Mracna, where you can see drift-architectural decorations, as well as get acquainted with the specific cave fauna of insects, crustaceans and bats. …

There are paths and bridges in the park, you can cross the lakes by ferry, and a special road train will help to shorten the path and give rest to the weary legs of tourists.
