Description of the attraction
Tigaki is one of the most popular beach centers on the Greek island of Kos. The resort village is located on the northern coast of the island, just 11 km from the city of Kos and about 15 km from the airport.
Over the past decades, Tigaki has developed into an excellent resort with well-developed infrastructure and offers its guests everything they need for a comfortable stay - excellent restaurants, taverns, cafes and bars, a wide range of accommodations, many shops and much more. In the local taverns and restaurants, you can relax and taste both traditional Greek cuisine and international cuisine.
The magnificent, about 10 km long, sandy Tigaki Beach is considered one of the best beaches on the island and has been repeatedly awarded the honorary blue flag. The good organization, the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea and the opportunity to practice a variety of water sports, among which windsurfing and kitesurfing are especially popular, will ensure you an unforgettable holiday. Since the beach is very long and wide enough, it is never overly crowded, and the purest white sand and relatively shallow waters make Tigaki an ideal place for families with young children.
The picturesque surroundings of Tigaki are made for long walks. Wetlands of Alykes certainly deserve special attention. This place is of particular interest for birdwatchers, as it is home to many birds, including pink flamingos. Not far from Tigaki, there are also such picturesque settlements as Zipari, Asfendiu and Pili.
Since Tigaki is located in close proximity to the capital of the island, you can diversify your leisure time by visiting the charming town of Kos and its main attractions - the Castle of the Knights of the Ioannites, the Archaeological Museum and the ruins of the ancient Kos.
You can get to Tigaki from the city of Kos by regular bus (there is a regular bus service with the capital), as well as by renting a car or using a taxi.
