Description of the attraction
The Rose Valley Park in Chisinau is one of the most popular parks in the city. Located in the Botanica-Park microdistrict, it was founded in 1968 on an area of about 145 hectares, where there was a natural forest and there was a whole plantation of roses. In the Soviet years, it was called “City Park of Culture and Leisure. Lenin ". It was in honor of this rose plantation that the park received the popular name "Valley of the Roses".
The improvement of the park area began with the strengthening of dams, cleaning of lakes, new asphalt alleys were laid. In a short time, the park has become the most beautiful and cozy corner of the city. Today, the central part of the park is decorated with a cascade of lakes with a total area of 9 hectares. On the lakes there are many interesting entertainments for both children and adults, which attracts a huge number of not only locals, but also guests of the city.
More than 50 species of various trees and shrubs grow on the territory of the Rose Valley Park, among which you can find prickly spruce, black oak, white acacia, birch, Japanese sophora and many others. In addition, in the park you can see practically tame squirrels willingly hand-feed, and also wander in search of mushrooms or berries. Local lakes have become a favorite spot for local ducks. Near the lakes, there is a well-equipped children's and sports grounds, as well as a bridge for lovers.
On the outskirts of the park, there is a small playground for children with colorful carousels and attractions. A large Ferris wheel, a variety of swings, roller coasters and electric cars attract special attention of tourists. In addition, the attraction is very popular, where old slot machines of the Soviet era, preserved in working order, are collected.
From 1990 to 2000, several restaurants and cafes were opened on the territory of the park, the Royal Park hotel was erected.
Despite the fact that over the past decades the park paths have worn out and have not been repaired for a long time, and the lakes have become polluted, the Rose Valley Park is still considered a favorite place for recreation of Chisinau residents and guests of the city.
