Description of the attraction
The Ethnographic Museum in the village of Staro Zelezare (12 km from the town of Hisar) is housed in a beautiful building in the style of Renaissance architecture. The space in the museum is divided into several thematic sections, the most important and interesting of which are "Bread" and "Wedding". Through several main Bulgarian symbols, the peculiarities of the life and history of the local population can be traced.
In specially designed halls of the museum, visitors can use crushed red pepper and other spices to prepare Old Zhelezar salt. Or try to work with a spindle in the “Homework” section of the museum. A rich collection of authentic costumes reveals the peculiarities of the local flavor (including the Thracian one). Here you can see amulets and spell inscriptions that were used in the course of ancient magical rites and rituals. Among the exhibits of the museum are also handicraft tools and various items resulting from the work of local craftsmen.
The exposition of this small but cozy museum will acquaint guests of the village of Staro Zhelezare with the national peculiarities of life and culture of the inhabitants of this region.
