Description of the attraction
Al Arin Park is a nature reserve and zoo located in Sakhir. This is one of the five specially protected natural areas in the country, occupying a total area of more than 7 square meters. km. The protection and development of wildlife and the preservation of the natural heritage of the Kingdom of Bahrain, animals originating from Africa and southern Asia is the main goal of the creation of Al-Arin Park in 1976. 100 thousand units of various plants of 25 species are planted here, more than 45 species of animals, 82 species of birds live.
Rare animals include the Arabian oryx, which has disappeared into the wild, gazelles, gazelles, saluki dogs, impala, fallow deer, Chapman's zebras, and desert hares. From the inhabitants of the Arabian species, such fauna as the horned oryx "scimitar", addax, giraffes, Nubian ibex, mouflon, and maned ram are kept here. The park is engaged in breeding of endangered species of animals.
The Al-Arin area of almost 800 hectares is divided into two sections. The park area covers three square kilometers and you can walk through it if you buy a bus tour at the entrance. The second part is a reserve-reserve located on four square kilometers. Access to it is closed to visitors, with the exception of specialists, scientists, veterinarians and zoo keepers.
The reserve has undergone several renovations in the previous decades, adding aviaries and a complex of Arabian wildlife. Currently, the construction of a falcon stadium is planned in the park. Al Arin Nature Reserve is the only park in the region where you can see wild animals living in a natural and protected environment.
