Description of the attraction
Equestrian sports are very popular in Finland. In 1909. as a result of breeding work, a special purebred Finnish horse breed was bred here. For the first time in Lappeenranta equestrian competitions took place in 1817. Then they became annual.
In 1973, the city built a large hippodrome "Ravirata" with 570 seats. At the same time, the first races were held here. The racetrack is visited by about one million spectators annually.
Every year, the main cultural event takes place at the hippodrome - the Royal Race, which evokes a storm of positive emotions in the audience. Anyone can place bets in the races on the sweepstakes, having tested themselves for the goodwill of fate.
Tourists are attracted here not only by horse races, but also by equestrian competitions in show jumping - running with obstacles and dressage, in which participants from different parts of the country compete.
