Description of the attraction

The Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in the village of Ivanyane was built in 1915. The land on which the temple now stands was donated in 1903 by Grigor Bratoev and Mincho Krastev.

This is a cross-domed church (the building forms a cross, in the center of which there is a tower with a dome) with one nave. There is a small vestibule in front of the entrance to the temple. The structure was built of stone and brick, bonded with a special mortar. Initially, the inside of the holy monastery was painted with frescoes, but they were damaged as a result of repair work. Now the walls in the church are painted white and they are decorated only with icons donated by parishioners. For the same reason, the painting of the dome with images of Jesus Christ and the angels surrounding him has not survived.

The iconostasis with the royal doors is made of wood and decorated with carvings. There are icons with images of Jesus Christ, St. John the Baptist, the Holy Mother of God, Saints Cyril and Methodius, the apostles and other saints, as well as scenes from the Holy Scriptures.

Divine services in the church have resumed since 2000. It is currently open to the public.
