The unique museum of one painting, which has glorified the city of Penza throughout the world, is located in the historical part of the city, on Kirov Street. Museum them. G. V. Myasnikov was opened in February 1983 and to this day there are no analogues of this kind of museums in the world. The uniqueness of the Penza Museum lies in the fact that it does not have a permanent exhibition, guests are presented with only one painting, but with the full history of the painting, a story about the artist's work and life, with illustrations, slide shows, accompanied by music. Talented writers and directors are working on the creation of slide films, and the texts are dubbed by the leading artists of the capital's theaters. In the museum, one picture is introduced to the masterpieces of foreign and domestic art brought from the Russian Museum, the State Hermitage, the Tretyakov Gallery and other world famous museums in Russia.
The history of the creation of the museum is also unique in its own way. The initiator and author of the idea of such an unusual museum was the politician and local historian Georg Vasilyevich Myasnikov. The museum is located in the building of an architectural monument of the nineteenth century and is a branch of the Penza Picture Gallery named after K. A. Savitsky. Near the museum are the main historical sights of the city - the monument "The First Settler" and "Defensive Wall".
