Description of the attraction

Casa Lleo Morera is one of three magnificent famous houses, which together with two others - Casa Amal Puig i Cadafalca and Casa Batlló by Antonio Gaudí - form the "Quarter of discord" on Passeig de Gracia, so named because of the unusually bright, impressive, but strikingly different architecture. The house was erected by the famous modernist architect of the time, Luis Domenech y Montarer.

Unlike other houses of this time, which were usually named according to the names of their owners, Casa Lleo Morera was named after the motifs present on its facade in the form of images of lions (lleó) and mulberry trees (morera).

Domenech y Montarer collaborated with ceramics artist Antoni Sera y Feter, renowned sculptor Eusebi Arnau, mosaic masters Lewis Bru and Mario Maragliano, and decor and furniture master Gaspar Homar to decorate the house.

It seems that Domenech i Montarer tried to fill the facade and the interior of the mansion with the maximum number of decorative elements of incredible beauty. So, the facade is decorated with columns, sculptures, bas-reliefs and stucco, depicting various motives, from which it is difficult to look away. Particularly noteworthy are the beautiful columns made of pinkish marble. A lot was used in the decoration of mosaics, from which whole pictures are created. The interiors are striking in splendor, wealth and grace. Everything in this house is filled with beauty - extraordinary staircases, patterned ceilings, stained glass, which in themselves are a true masterpiece of art.
