Description of the attraction

The Church of the Holy Trinity is one of the most beautiful Orthodox churches in Gabrovo. Located in the heart of the city.

In the place where this temple is now located, a small church was built in 1804. It existed until 1879, when it was destroyed, and in its place began the construction of a new impressive size of the temple. The church leadership entrusted the construction of the building to the master Gencho Novakov. The construction lasted for ten years, but the result was an architectural masterpiece of the Bulgarian National Revival. On November 5, 1889, the newly built church was consecrated by Metropolitan Clement.

The Church of the Holy Trinity impresses with its architecture: the central dome of the basilica rests on three pillars, and inside there are thrones of amazing skill. Adjacent to the church is a small chapel consecrated in honor of St. John Chrysostom. In addition to its collection of icons, the Church of the Holy Trinity is famous for its library - there are unique old editions of the Gospel. One of them was printed in Russia in 1854, and the second in 1856 in Vienna.

In 1932, restoration work and major repairs were carried out in the building of the church, and then a tower was built, whose four bells still daily call parishioners to prayer.
